Every Child Deserves to Shine – Volunteer at Our Disability Center

In Nepal, children with disabilities are often hidden away, not out of malice, but out of stigma, shame, and misunderstanding. Families feel they have failed. Communities look away. These children grow up believing they are invisible.

At TravAction Nepal's Center for Children and Disabilities, we refuse to let that happen. We believe every child, regardless of ability, deserves love, care, education, and a chance to discover their own potential. And we invite you to be part of that journey.

The Reality No One Talks About

Nepal faces a silent crisis. Thousands of children with intellectual and physical disabilities are locked in dark rooms, isolated from the world. Their families, often struggling with poverty and shame, see disability as a curse. Children with special needs are frequently neglected, hidden from neighbors, and denied education or medical care.

This isn't just heartbreaking. It's a tragedy that robs these children of their dignity and their future.

TravAction Nepal is changing that story. Our Center for Children with Disabilities in Kathmandu is a safe, loving home for children who were once forgotten. Here, they receive therapy, education, and, most importantly, the unconditional love they deserve.

What Makes Our Center Different

A Home, Not Just a Facility – Our center is warm and welcoming. Children feel safe here. They laugh, play, and learn in an environment that treats them with dignity.

Holistic Care – We provide physiotherapy, occupational therapy, special education, health education, and emotional support.

Trained Staff & Volunteers – Our team includes therapists, educators, and caregivers who are passionate about disability inclusion. Volunteers work alongside them, learning and contributing.

Community Integration – We believe children with disabilities belong in the community, not hidden away. We work with families to reduce stigma and build understanding.

Your Role as a Volunteer

At our Center for Children with Disabilities, you won't just be a visitor—you'll become part of the children's lives. Your presence, patience, and care will make a tangible difference.

What you'll do:

  • Assist with Therapy – Support physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions. Help children with exercises that build strength and mobility.
  • Lead Educational Activities – Teach basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills. Run art, music, and play sessions that spark joy and creativity.
  • Provide Personal Care – Help with meals, hygiene, and daily routines. Your gentle assistance gives caregivers much-needed relief.
  • Organize Fun Activities – Plan games, storytelling, and creative projects. Watch children light up with excitement and pride.
  • Offer Emotional Support – Simply being there—holding a hand, offering a smile, listening—can transform a child's day.

No prior experience is required. We provide training and ongoing support. What matters most is your compassion and willingness to show up.
